ABSTRACT

Testing throughput and vulnerabilities in the cloud are topics almost never associated with clouds but really ought to be. Testing in general used to be commonplace in many larger information technology (IT) organizations, but as bandwidth and network capabilities have exceeded most organizational needs, actively testing the network has fallen away. Documentation and a coherent view of what IT professionals' systems are doing is a hugely important step into any expansion plan, cloud, or otherwise. All symptoms that could have been exposed during a testing phase, but without testing, showed up on the production network at the worst possible time. If IT professionals have the space and funding to build a network operations center, there is also a pretty good chance that they have several screens displaying product-specific dashboards or screens separating different functions from each other. Nice, even scanning means it’s a more efficient display, and also has a great byproduct of reducing eye fatigue.
