ABSTRACT

Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) is the computer software or application that helps doctors to take decisions, has it become one of the major research approach in medical imaging science. In this chapter, the background, objective, significant of the CAD system are presented. The main goal of CAD systems is to identify abnormal signs at an earliest that a human professional can fail, with CAD systems, radiologists and doctors use the computer output as a "second opinion" and make the final decisions.

The general aim of this book to present new and reliable automated computer-aided diagnosis system (CAD) for detecting glaucoma and develop an algorithm that detects optic disc and optic cup.
