ABSTRACT
Cartilage develops from local mesoderm which is shaped as the adult cartilage or bone it later becomes. The cells aggregate and differentiate into chondroblasts and begin secreting matrix. Connective tissue around the outside of the model is called perichondrium. The cartilage model can increase in size by either interstitial or appositional growth.
