ABSTRACT

The simplest example of the particle-mesh calculations, the NGP (nearest grid point) scheme was employed in Chapters 2 and 3 to illustrate program planning and development. In this chapter we investigate how that basic scheme is generalized to higher-order accuracy and to higher dimensions. To avoid ambiguity, we will use a charged system for our discussion, although the comments apply equally well to other systems for which the particle-mesh scheme is used (see Chapter 1).
