ABSTRACT
In a randomized clinical trial, a defined human population with a defined problem is randomly allocated to two or more comparable treatment conditions for a defined period. Outcomes are then compared between the groups. Throughout this chapter, the term ‘clinical trial’ is used in referring to phase III clinical trials.
