ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the simulation of transient response and Fourier analysis. The transient independent sources are used when the response of a circuit to a transient signal is required. Two statements are required to perform transient analysis: the first is an independent source description statement, and the second is a.TRAN statement, which sets the period of analysis. The.TRAN statement is used to specify the period of time over which the circuit transient analysis is to be performed. The.TRAN statement together with the required transient independent source description statement allow the user to perform transient analysis. Fourier’s theorem states that all waveforms can be constructed by a suitable addition of a series of sine waves. PSpice allows the user to perform Fourier analysis using the.FOUR statement. This statement calculates the signal Fourier components, including the DC, fundamental, and second to ninth harmonics.
