ABSTRACT

Management must exercise appropriate authority while encouraging good human relations. Authority is the right to command or give orders. The way an individual is able to influence others is called power. Supervisors and managers have both authority and power, however it is the positive use of it which aids in control of programs and people to achieve appropriate objectives. The supervisor exercises authority and encourages good human relations. In this human relations role the supervisor or manager act as an educator, counselor, and judge and also relates information accurately to subordinates. Control is making something happen the way it was planned to happen. Control is the process of taking the necessary actions to insure that the objectives of the organization are accomplished in an effective and efficient manner. The trained, competent supervisor is keenly aware of human aspects of control.
