ABSTRACT

Preoperative analgesia should be augmented and continued for 5-7 days post surgery (for example, oral meloxicam) along with a course of antibiotics and gut motility stimulant drugs. Over the long term, the owner will be required to assist with grooming and to grate/chop hard foods. c In cases of acquired incisor malocclusion there are usually concurrent problems in the molariform arcades that must also be addressed. Correction of molar elongation may allow the incisors to be brought back into occlusion with only trimming, although the reduced curvature of lower incisors in advanced cases may make this impossible.
