ABSTRACT
While nudibranchs are found throughout the world's oceans, the Coral Triangle is home to the greatest number of species. While seahorse sexes are similar in size, the Ornate ghost pipefish females are significantly larger than the males and their reproduction takes a more conventional path. Whether this diversity, in common with other biota, principally arises within the Coral Triangle, or is mainly due to accumulation from adjacent regions, continues to be a hot debate in biogeography. A mass spawning event is shown overleaf and the chapter page features a Spanish dancer with its bright pink garland of freshly deposited eggs. Location: Lembeh, North Sulawesi Pufferfish are not readily associated with plagues, but the incidence related here raises such a question. While many plagues are natural, there is growing evidence that their severity may be exacerbated by anthropogenic factors such those on the climate and the way the exploit animals for food.
