ABSTRACT

RC is a 40-year-old man who presents to your GP outreach clinic with two lesions on his scalp ( Figs. 31.1a–c ). He describes a colourful life, having been shipwrecked on an island for 26 years. He is accompanied by his friend, Friday, whom he consents to being present in the consultation. He is concerned as Friday has noticed a lesion on his scalp. He has recently seen a TV advert advising people who have had sun exposure and funny lesions to seek medical help. He said that on the island he was repeatedly sunburnt and had chronic sun exposure, and he has been bald for years. You notice a few lesions on his head, which are thickened yellow plaques. They are non tender.
