ABSTRACT

A beautiful princess presents to the Royal Hospital, accompanied by seven of her friends, all short in stature and carrying a variety of garden implements. Her friends report that the patient has ingested an unknown substance, given to her by an old woman, together with some alcohol. The police are involved as they have so far been unable to corroborate this story and had suspected the use of Rohypnol (flunitrazepam). She had apparently been quite low in mood recently after some bad dates she had been on with unsuitable suitors. The police found a diary stating that she might end her life if she were not to find love. After ingesting this substance she later had a seizure lasting a few minutes. This involved her arms and legs shaking violently and foaming at the mouth. There is no evidence of incontinence or tongue biting and one of the friends said she was blue around her lips and fingers. Since then she has seemed to be fast asleep.
