ABSTRACT
An alien from outer space is brought to the emergency department by a child. He has a red hot glowing fingertip on the index finger of his left hand. You try to examine the finger, but the alien insists on making a phone call first. The patient is afebrile but has a tender red swelling over the fingertip. You suspect an infective process.
