ABSTRACT

An adequate supply of drinking-quality cold water should be provided to every residential building and a drinking water tap installed within the building. External water meters with an integrated isolating stop valve are generally installed for all new water services close to the property boundary. There are two primary cold water systems; direct and indirect. Indirect hot water cylinders cylinders are a form of heat exchanger where the primary circuit of hot water from the boiler flows through a coil or annulus within the storage vessel and transfers the heat to the water stored within. The majority of domestic space heating systems are hydronic or hot water systems which feature a centralised heat source, a heat distribution network and heat emitters. A heating system must have effective controls and be able to be commissioned and adjusted to use no more power than is ‘reasonable’.
