ABSTRACT
A 26-year-old woman presented to hospital with fevers and vomiting. She reported a 4-day history of dysuria and urinary frequency and had developed right-sided abdominal pain over the preceding 24 h. She had no significant past medical history and took no regular medications. She worked as an art teacher, did not drink alcohol and had never smoked. She reported that she had recently started a new relationship and had several episodes of unprotected sexual intercourse over the past fortnight.
