ABSTRACT

A 72-year-old woman was reviewed by her general practitioner after reporting increasing symptoms of shortness of breath and cough over recent weeks following several changes to her regular medications. Her general practitioner suspected that she was experiencing an exacerbation of her asthma and commenced a 5-day course of prednisolone 40 mg PO OD. Upon review, the patient stated that she had not noticed any improvement in her symptoms of shortness of breath but now also felt increasingly distressed and agitated. Her past medical history was significant for anxiety, hay fever and asthma. Her regular medications at the time of her review are listed below.
