ABSTRACT

A 74-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with shortness of breath and a cough. She described a 72-h history of feeling feverish with a dry cough and worsening shortness of breath. Her past medical history included type 2 diabetes mellitus and depression. She had no known drug allergies and her regular medications were metformin 500 mg OD and sertraline 50 mg OD. The patient lived alone and volunteered at a local animal shelter.
