ABSTRACT

A 28-year-old woman presented to hospital with a 12-h history of progressive shortness of breath and left-sided chest pain. The chest pain was exacerbated by deep inspiration and coughing. Her past medical history included a deep vein thrombosis in her right calf 3 years earlier and two miscarriages in the third trimester of pregnancy. She took no regular medications and had no known drug allergies. She worked as a traffic warden, did not smoke, and drank around 10 units of alcohol per week.
