ABSTRACT

A 32-year-old man is brought to the emergency department after having a 5-min tonic clonic seizure in the street. The episode was witnessed by a passing nurse who described the patient collapsing and developing jerking movements of his arms and legs. There was associated tongue biting and urinary incontinence. The patient was post-ictal on arrival and thus unable to provide any history. He had a packet of phenytoin tablets in his bag.
