ABSTRACT

The objectives were to better understand the students’ behaviour when using social media, and to know how they protect themselves in cyberspace. The intention was to capture those students that might be more knowledgeable in cybersecurity and have computer expertise. The survey helped the researcher precisely pinpoint the areas where privacy concerns are high, or the students who are at more risk of getting their privacy violated. Thus, students are much less cautious about protecting themselves from the dangers of social hacking, relating specifically to sharing information on social media. Identity thieves often target school and college-age students whose credit card scores are clean. Filling out forms and data sharing on school and college campuses have turned out to be second nature to numerous students who have access to cell phones, broadly accessible Internet, and social media websites. There is a consensus among students not to share personal and private information on Facebook.
