ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on cure models that are fully parametrically specified. It introduces parametric mixture cure models, followed by some common estimation methods for the models. The chapter presents some non-mixture cure models as well as parametric transformation cure models that unify mixture cure models and other types of cure models. It discusses the model assessment issues such as choosing appropriate parametric distributions, selection between mixture versus non-mixture cure models, and goodness of fit of cure models. The chapter presents some software packages that can fit parametric cure models and an example data set for cure models. It focuses on independent and right-censored data.
