ABSTRACT

Cure models are useful for survival data from a population where a subset of subjects are immune to the event of interest and can be considered as cured. Cure models should only be considered for data with a fraction of cured subjects. This chapter discusses statistical methods to help an investigator to decide whether the conditions for using cure models are met or not. It discusses some statistical methods for testing the existence of cured subjects and provides some methods to address the sufficient follow-up condition. The chapter discusses statistical tests for the existence of cured subjects based on data.
