ABSTRACT

Energetic college blitzers can cover a lot of ground generating sales leads by face-to-face contact. The student fills out fact sheets for hotel’s full-time sales staff to follow-up on later, besides scattering upon promotional flyers of the hotel’s food and beverage offerings. Anyone on a hotel’ payroll can participate. Since the objective is not to sell but gather information, the blitz team need not be limited to members of the sales department. The idea is to extend the department’s reach not to overload it with a new responsibility. But there is one thing to remember: the same people have to be used throughout the length of the blitz. An indoctrination dinner should be held the evening before the blitz day. Since this will be the first time all the blitzers are assembled, the blitz director should use the opportunity to explain the objective and purpose of the blitz.
