ABSTRACT
During the last decades, intensive scientific and industrial researches were dedicated to the development of lightweight bulletproof body armor systems to satisfy the standards such as Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor NIJ Standard-0101.06 or UK Body Armor Standard (2017). The main requirements (level of protection, comfort, fabric hand, moisture management, vapor resistance, thermal comfort) for the different designs of modern protective armor are assessed. The designs of armor have been largely inspired by the mother nature; biomimicry applications for armor design are explained. Factors involved in the body armor effectiveness are defined.
