ABSTRACT

Body armor system may consist of several components: fibers, yarns, woven fabric, nonwoven fabric, hard plates composite plates, and ceramic plates. Each component’s properties have a specific impact on the armor performance. Consequently, the properties (physical, mechanical, thermal, etc.) of each component should be tested according to the international standard methods (ASTM, ISO, etc.). In this chapter, a summary of the principle testing methods of each competent is given. The testing for the ballistic and stab resistance armors as a final product are also mentioned according to the standard methods such asBallistic Resistance of Body Armor NIJ Standard-0101.06; UK Body Armor Standard (2017); Technische Richtlinie March 2008, Germany; RUSSIA - GOST R 50744-95.
