ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the different models that integrate environmental issues into business strategy. It focuses on optimism and hope that can create an environment to enable better utilization of resources for an alternative future within the Indian industries. The chapter explains the challenges being faced by industries when adopting ‘sound environmental management practices’. Environmental management is a system that helps an organization to develop, implement, achieve, and maintain a successful environmental safety and health policy. Environmental management represents the effective management of natural resources through proper planning, conservation, evaluation, legislation, and administration. Environmental resource management involves the management of all components of the biophysical environment, both living and non-living. Ethical aspects of environmental management involve the cultural and social issues relating to the environment, and treating with changes to it. The chapter examines a link with the industry to be green and to be integrated with the Indian economy with the vigour of environmental and social responsibility.
