ABSTRACT

Nowadays, robots play an increasingly important role in many application domains, from manufacturing to service, from transportation to medicare. They are expected to continuously revolutionize the industry practices and change people’s life. The development of robotics is directed to address demands from various social sectors ranging from manufacturing, warehouse, transportation, and etc. There are still tremendous needs for enhanced robot perception, intelligence, and actuation. Moreover, the development of robotics may fundamentally change human-robot relationships so as the futures can work for human, augment human, and be human-like. Opportunities and challenges co-exist. Further studies are required in order for a harmonic human-robot society. This book can serve as a cornerstone for the study of robot behavior design, especially toward desirable human-robot interactions.
