ABSTRACT

This chapter fulfills the various requirements for different pressure-sensitive products when there is a need to regulate the adhesive and end use properties of the pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) and of the laminate components. Pressure-sensitive products having the appearance of solid state materials were developed some decades ago. In this case pressure sensitivity may be related (or not) to the use of a PSA. Sophisticated coating images allow a fine regulation of the adhesive contact surface. Thus in comparison to imbedded adhesive or tacky carrier materials formulation for coated PSA constitutes a more perfect procedure to design a pressure-sensitive product. The adhesive coating technology includes machinability or processability of the adhesive. Machinability comprises versatility for storage, handling and transfer, runnability and recycling ability of the PSA. Runnability is related to the coatability of the adhesive.
