ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at how the kind of person healthcare professionals are affects their working life. Many will be sceptical of the idea that the human race can be encapsulated in only 16 personalities, and of course they are right. Type is by no means the whole story; it is simply a part of it that helps people to understand some of the more fundamental characteristics. People who prefer to focus on their external world, said to prefer extroversion, tend to be the outgoing, action-oriented people in life; the ones who take initiative in social groups and at work, who are at ease with new people, who verbalise their thoughts as they are forming in their minds. Some people find it easy to decide on their type, while others find it much harder.
