ABSTRACT

This chapter presents answers to 13 questions that are related medicines, surgery, elderly care, paediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology, and general practice. These answers enable the prescribing safety assessment candidates and other students or healthcare professionals to develop the skills and knowledge required to conduct an effective clinical review of a patient’s pharmaceutical care, to enhance their knowledge of clinical pharmacology and pharmacokinetics of commonly used medicines, to enhance their ability to extract correct clinical information from the British National Formulary in a timely fashion, and to overall, improve their ability to prescribe safely, effectively and cost- effectively. The answers also enable the students to improve their prescribing clinical decision- making skills.
