ABSTRACT

This chapter presents answers to 13 questions that are related to medicines, surgery, elderly care, paediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology, and general practice in the context of communicating information. These answers enable the prescribing safety assessment candidates and other students or healthcare professionals to develop the skills and knowledge required to conduct an effective clinical review of a patient’s pharmaceutical care, and to enhance their knowledge of clinical pharmacology and pharmacokinetics of commonly used medicines. The answers also enable the candidates to enhance their ability to extract correct clinical information from the British National Formulary in a timely fashion, and to overall, improve their ability to prescribe safely, effectively and cost- effectively.
