ABSTRACT

Student Success in the Prescribing Safety Assessment (PSA) is designed specifically to meet the professional development needs of the PSA candidates as well as the prescribing competencies outlined by the General Medical Council. This chapter presents answers to 13 questions that are related to medicines, surgery, elderly care, paediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology, and general practice in the context of adverse drug reactions. These answers enable the prescribing safety assessment candidates and other students or healthcare professionals to become familiar with the main evidence-based prescribing guidelines and prescribing information — e.g. National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, British Thoracic Society, European Society of Cardiology, and numerous peer-reviewed articles.
