ABSTRACT

Gait, arms, legs, spine is a useful screening examination of the locomotor system. It is a general examination that enables the people to identify areas of the musculoskeletal system that warrant further examination, and possibly investigation. Failure to examine the abnormality in detail could be severely detrimental to their final mark. Although it does not follow the acronym, the easiest and most systematic order to conduct the GALS examination is: gait, spine, arms and legs. While the patient remains sitting on the edge of the couch, ask them to extend their arms so the people can inspect their hands. During the GALS examination, the people may find some locomotor abnormalities. Having completed the examination, cover the patient appropriately and ensure that they are comfortable.
