ABSTRACT

The membership examination for the Royal College of General Practitioners has undergone a major change. The new curriculum has brought with it a wholly different qualification, called the nMRCGP. The exam may be taken at any time during the vocational training course. The fully computerised exam takes place three times a year and candidates must sit it at one of the designated exam centres. The criteria for competence must be met for all the assessment areas. The WPBA is the continual assessment part of the exam. the VTS, the trainees will undergo 6-monthly progress reviews, of which will be held in the trainee’s portfolio. The trainee will be expected to collect pieces of evidence such as case-based discussions and feedback from senior colleagues and patients to support judgements about his or her progress.
