ABSTRACT

The engineering design of warp knitted fabrics requires the estimation of their main properties, where at the first place this is the specific weight of the fabrics. For the calculation of the weight, the yarn length in an unit cell has to be known. The basic geometrical models for the loops allow calculation of the main parameters of the structures such as yarn length, fabric weight, length per rack. The theoretical fabrics’ weight per square meter can be obtained by the calculation of the mass of all yarns in one repeat, divided to the surface area of this repeat. The length of the loops over two needle can be calculated as a sum of the loop lengths of the both single loops and the underlap between these. The underlap length between the two loops is proportional to the needle space.
