ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates fabrics, created as combinations of different laps. The fabrics, produced with two guides bars with different laps are named for their laps, for instance, tricot-cord structure. The first lap is that of the first guide bar and the second - that of the second guide bar. The fabrics with the double open cord stitch with counter-lapping have a similar appearance in the simulation and photos. The cord and tricot laps as a combination create fabrics with low elongation, because of the longer underlaps of the cord stitch. The position of the guide bar determines the stability of the structure and the optical and mechanical properties - the yarns of the first guide bar dominate the optics on both fabric sides and keep all remaining yarns on the inside of the fabrics. Using different colour arrangements in the threading creates various effects - such as vertical stripes, hexagons, diamonds and their variations.
