ABSTRACT

Garment fit and comfort are interrelated parameters that required a tailored solution for individual human. Fit and comfort of the garment are influenced by the effects of fabric parameters, manufacturing aspects, and other secondary properties like body size and shapes. This chapter mainly focuses on the effect of elastane yarn on the comfort properties and fit aspects of stretch-woven and knit fabrics. The fit of the stretch fabric is mainly influenced by the pattern making, stretch level, and wearers’ measurements. The second part of the chapter discusses on comfort properties of the stretch fabric which is prejudiced by the fabric property changes by elastane addition. A higher percentage of elastane inclusion in the fabric significantly affects the comfort-related characteristics of the stretch fabric. Hence, based on the application requirements, the elastane percentage can be included in the stretch fabrics.
