ABSTRACT
The potential application of elastane fabric in the medical field is detailed in this chapter. There are five different applications – compression bandages, compression stockings, orthopaedic supports, compression garments for scar management, and shapewear – that are detailed in this chapter. In each section, the chapter elucidates the requirements of elastane fabric, as a role of textile material in terms of pressure exertion and as a solution for medical issues. Further, the chapter also deals with the common problems related to the elastane materials in the aforementioned applications.
