ABSTRACT

The organization shall establish and maintain procedures to identify potential for and respond to accidents and emergency situations, and for preventing and mitigating the environmental impacts that may be associated with them. The organization shall review and revise, where necessary, its emergency preparedness and response procedures, in particular, after the occurrence of accidents or emergency situations. The organization shall also periodically test such procedures where practicable. The main focus of this procedure will be to provide information on how to “prepare” and “respond” to an accident or emergency. An Accident/Incident Report must be completed and given to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department for identification of any possible corrective actions. A formal memorandum of understanding was signed by the Chemical Manufacturers Association and DOT in 1980 which officially recognizes CHEMTREC as the central emergency response service for incidents involving the transportation of hazardous waste.
