ABSTRACT

The ensuing model called the eikonal Coulomb–Born approximation was shown later to overestimate grossly, by three orders of magnitude, the experimental data which became available in 1976 through for the same collision problem. The motivation for proposing the continuum distorted wave-eikonal initial state model is to have the initial scattering state properly normalized. However, this ad hoc one-sided normalization in the theory is physically ambiguous, since the final scattering state is kept unnormalized. The particle flux conservation emphasized in item is preserved only if both the incoming and outgoing scattering states are normalized at all times in the whole configuration place.
