ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the basics of Abaqus Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software, which is also known as Complete Abaqus Environment. As soon as Abaqus CAE software is launched, the first option called New should be automatically opened. Subsequently, the user should follow the Model tree, which is situated on the left side of the screen and which can be treated as a reference area allowing for step-by-step model creation, knowing what the stage of the modeling process is and being able to switch between different modules of the Model tree if needed. The chapter presents nine crucial stages which allow creation of the model: Creation of a part; Material; Section and its properties; Defining the assembly; Creation of a step; Data output request; Boundary conditions and loads; Meshing and element types; and Job. Going through these nine stages allows the user to create a basic model.
