ABSTRACT

Various definitions of Hand of Textiles (HoT) demonstrate certain freedom of word choice and approach to characterize a haptic perception of textiles. A great effort has been made to maximize the visualization of textiles and their simulations in order to present them well via the Internet so that a decision about the purchase can be made. One of the oldest and most influential studies established the basis for many scientific works subsequently carried out in the field of HoT. This chapter deals with a model that is created, which simulates a finger touching a piece of textile. This model of the skin section and the piece of textile to be touched is reduced to two simplified elements: a skin section and a cylinder representing a piece of yarn. The load plate is created to represent the base supporting the two elements of skin and yarn.
