ABSTRACT

This chapter shows that for analysis by the displacement method, there serves a primary system, which is obtained from a given system by installation of additional support constraints in the places and directions of independent displacements of joints. Analysis by the displacement method begins with construction of unit and loaded bending moment diagrams for the primary system. The technique of unit and loaded diagrams’ construction lies in consecutive selection of the required diagram for each member from the set of model diagrams of the displacement method. In the completing stage of calculations by the displacement method, the verification of the final bending moment diagram is fulfilled. In the mixed method, a primary system is introduced by removal of constraints in that part of the given system where it is convenient to calculate the system by the force method and by entering additional supports in the part where it is convenient to apply the displacement method.
