ABSTRACT

Combustion is always associated with emissions. Perfect combustion produces some greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. Chapter 11 provides a moderately detailed overview of emissions from combustion. It discusses the formation mechanisms of different pollutant gases like NOx, SOx, CO and so on, and includes the generation of greenhouse gases. Emissions of particulate matters are also discussed. The mitigation methods for different pollutants, for example, a greenhouse gas like carbon dioxide and particulate matter like soot, are discussed in detail. Finally, emissions quantification is also discussed.
