ABSTRACT

Combustion diagnostics is an integral part of combustion practice. Diagnostic techniques with improved accuracy have been developed. With the invention of the laser, several non-intrusive diagnostic techniques have been discovered. Study of combustion remains incomplete without the study of diagnostic techniques. Chapter 12 provides a brief account of different measurement techniques for important combustion characteristics. The discussion includes flow, temperature, species, pressure, soot, droplet and spray measurement. In all the categories, the major diagnosis methods are enumerated along with a brief discussion on their measurement methods. The methods covered provide readers a good account of intrusive as well as non-intrusive diagnostics used for combustion.
