ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 reviews some concepts of thermodynamics, essential for development of topics covered in the book. It also deals with applications of the laws of thermodynamics to multicomponent reacting systems and introduces the concepts of enthalpy of formation, enthalpy of combustion and adiabatic flame temperature. The concept of chemical equilibrium is also covered in Chapter 2. Finally, applications of these concepts to some practical applications of current relevance are discussed.
