ABSTRACT
Fractures of the pelvis are particularly serious because they are often complicated by damage to the pelvic soft tissues (bowel, bladder, urethra, reproductive organs, nerve plexuses, and a network of supporting ligaments), causing massive blood loss which can be fatal.
