ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a brief introduction to the book. It notes that while there are thousands of publications on various aspects of shotcrete technology, there is a lack of a comprehensive textbook on the subject. Also, there have been a number of significant advances in shotcrete technology in recent years. This was the impetus for preparation of this book. It notes that the book provides a state-of-the-art summary of the technology, together with a comprehensive reference list of pertinent publications at the end of each chapter, so that the reader can delve into any particular topic in more details, if required.
