ABSTRACT

This chapter provides guidance on shotcrete mixture proportioning for both wet-mix and dry-mix shotcretes. The basic principles for wet-mix shotcrete mixture proportioning are presented, together with examples of shotcrete mixture designs for (a) permanent reinforced shotcrete walls in a parking structure, with freezing and thawing and chloride exposure, and (b) fibre-reinforced shotcrete for application with a remote control manipulator arm, with accelerator addition at the nozzle, in an underground mine. The basic principles for dry-mix shotcrete mixture proportioning are also provided, together with examples of (a) dry-mix shotcrete mixture design for the repair of structural walls, and (b) dry-mix shotcrete with accelerator mixture design for underground support in a mine.
