ABSTRACT

Animation and three-dimensional (3D) modeling are interdisciplinary areas symbolizing the union of art, science, mathematics, and technology, among many others. As modeling and animation are visual art forms, they are inherently related to many basic aspects of design, drawing, color, layout, and composition. Background knowledge of the “elements of art” could go a long way when students are trying to visually express their idea. A shape is a two-dimensional entity that represents a closed line or path. Form denotes 3D objects and 3D composition. Form includes depth besides the length and width. A good grasp of the concept of geometric shapes and forms and the ability to observe and isolate constituent form elements in 3D objects make the modeling process much easier and efficient. Value refers to the lightness or darkness of an object or its surface. In real-world drawings or paintings, different methods have been used to create the illusion of space.
