ABSTRACT
This chapter provides information and data to allow the estimator who does not already have an internal method to calculate the cost of owning and operating a piece of construction equipment to do so. The information can be used in several ways. First, it could be used as a reference for setting an internal standardized method for calculating equipment rental rates. Next, it could be used to perform an independent estimate of rates that are being proposed for a given project to determine whether they appear to be fair and reasonable. Lastly, it can be used as a mutually agreed standard for calculating these types of rates during contract or change order negotiations.
